Mirliton commence une gamme française pour les débuts du second empire, période allant de 1854 à 1866. Cette gamme en 25/28mm se compose de deux références pour l'infanterie de ligne et les commandements correspondants ainsi que des fusiliers et des voltigeurs.
C'est un bon début pour les guerres contre l'Autriche, voire la Crimée.
